Baz Luhrmann’s Next

Russell Crowe has dropped out of Baz Luhrmann’s next movie, a untitled Australian period piece. Hugh Jackman will be starring along side fellow Aussie Nicole Kidman. Thank god Baz dropped the Alexander the Great movie when Oliver Stone's version bombed at the box office.
The basic plot is as follows...

A romantic action-adventure set in northern Australia prior to World War II, centers on an English aristocrat (Nicole Kidman) who inherits a ranch the size of Maryland. When English cattle barons plot to take her land, she reluctantly joins forces with a rough-hewn cattle driver (Jackman) to drive 2,000 head of cattle across hundreds of miles of the country's most unforgiving land, only to still face the bombing of Darwin, Australia, by the Japanese forces that had attacked Pearl Harbor only months earlier.

Sounds very intriguing, looks like Baz is doing his very own Gone With the Wind... For those who don't know Baz's work, he directed Strictly Ballroom, Romeo and Juliet and Moulin Rouge! I'm just stoked he's actually doing another movie... he is certainly a unique Australian director.
