Heath Talks Joker

The Toronto Sun recently spoke with Aussie actor Heath Ledger who for the first time talked publically about his being cast as The Joker in the "Batman Begins" sequel "The Dark Knight".

"It's definitely going to stump people. I think it'll be more along the lines of how the Joker was meant to be in the comics, darker and more sinister. I wouldn't have thought of me, either. But it's obviously not going to be what Jack Nicholson did" says Ledger.

He adds "It's going to be more nuanced and dark and more along the lines of a Clockwork Orange kind of feel. Which is, I think, what the comic book was after: less about his laugh and more about his eyes".

Meanwhile at the premiere of "Hollywoodland", actor Bob Hoskins was asked by IESB about rumours he'd been approached to play The Penguin in "The Dark Knight". Hoskins seemed genuinely surprised by the question and appeared not to have heard of such an offer. Would he be interested? "Yeah of course...love too" he replied...
